Skin Research Institute: Bringing You the Best in Cosmetic Dermatology

What you may not know about our practice, is how dedicated we are to ongoing research. Under the name Skin Research Institute, we have a state-of-the-art research facility dedicated to clinical trials. Led by our board-certified dermatologists, our research team of medical professionals, nurses and physician assistants have been conducting studies for over a decade.

Skin Research InstituteSo what’s a clinical trial? Simply put, it’s when a product or treatment is taken out of the lab setting and administered in willing human participants. The purpose of these trials are to make sure that the product is not only safe for human use, but also does what they claim is does. While some drugs and treatments may seem brand new to you, the process from conception to public use is 15 to 20 years on average!

We’ve spent the past decade performing clinical trails on FDA-approved protocols, cosmetic ingredients and treatments. Our practice has been instrumental in the approval of many products and treatments including: Botox®, Juvederm®, Restylane® and more. Additionally, because our practice specializes in cosmetic dermatology, our physicians have the mindset of constant improvement, allowing them to develop possible new techniques or applications for existing products and/or treatments. When they come up with an idea, they develop their own research protocol, reach out to the appropriate pharmaceutical company for sponsorship, and then conduct the trials.

Our commitment to research sets us apart from other practices because it keeps us on top of our game. We are constantly learning, practicing and perfecting our craft. We also get the opportunity to be some of the first to work with all of these great treatments and devices, which means we’re always ahead of the curve.

By the time a treatment is FDA-approved for the general public, our physicians have had months, even years working with it and honing their approach. They become experts in that treatment and often times are asked by the pharmaceutical company to train other physicians. For example, later this summer we will be hosting two teams of top European aesthetic physicians to train them in Cellfina™, a new innovative treatment for cellulite. If you want to learn more about Cellfina™ specifically, read more about it here.

Curious about what we’re working on right now? Let’s just say one of our current projects is a facial muscle relaxant, without using needles! Lastly, we’re always looking for participants so if you’re interested in being considered for future studies, please call us at 305.444.5770 x 7105.
