At our Miami dermatology office, we’re excited to offer 2 new types of laser treatment for decreasing the effects of sun damage and improving skin texture. In my work as a Miami dermatologist, I see a lot of patients whose skin has all the classic signs of excess sun exposure, and I’m able to achieve outstanding results with these 2 new lasers:
- The Fraxel 1550 is a fractional erbium laser, which penetrates the deep layers of the skin to promote the growth of collagen and improve skin texture. It can be used to treat wrinkles, acne scars and aging skin.
- The Fraxel 1927 is a thulium laser that penetrates the surface layers of the skin and helps eliminate excess pigment, while improving the tone and surface texture. In helps reduce signs of aging skin, including sun damage and sun spots, as well as treating a variety of pigment conditions.
These 2 methods can be used alone or in combination, in what we call a Fraxel dual treatment. We have seen great results with the Fraxel 1927, especially for sun-damaged skin and cases of excess pigment. And, treatments are not limited to the face. Many of our patients experience major improvements when Fraxel lasers are used on the neck, chest, arms and legs. With only 1 or 2 treatments, we can greatly improve the appearance of skin that’s had too many years in the sun.
